PBS provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering services for the modernization of LAX Terminal 4 and 5.

The Terminal 4 and 5 modernization is a $1.6 billion project, expected to be completed in 2027. It will create a centralized location for ticketing, screening and baggage claim, and provide passengers with a direct connection to the Automated People Mover (APM) train system.

Included in the project is a Terminal Vertical Core, which allows passengers to circulate vertically via escalators and elevators. There will also be a connection provided for passengers to the APM’s West Central Terminal Area (CTA) station—an elevated pedestrian walkway. The Terminal Vertical Core will also feature new baggage claim facilities and passenger check-in, an improved security screening checkpoint, a headhouse area for passenger processing and a new post-security connection between Terminals 4 and 5.
