PBS provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design services including the renovation of building with replacement of HVAC design, Services upgrades with new electrical service, power& lighting design along with utility coordination and Plumbing design with utility coordination. Ultra-High Efficiency roof top package unit design along with Kitchen Exhaust & Make-up Air units design was accomplished. The project’s goal was accomplished to make a highly functional space for users that is energy efficient for all-day use, highly controllable for various event types, and aesthetically impressive through scale, palette, and integration. Boys Republic is a not-for-profit, alt-boys high school that has been providing academic, vocational, and rehabilitation services since 1907. New Culinary Arts Center at the heart of the Boys Republic campus is an inspiring and forward-thinking facility that meets the educational needs of an at-risk campus community, while also reflecting the tradition and history of the institution. PBS Engineers Design team and teammates were proud to be part of this project where this facility was designed for allowing a new state-of-the art professional teaching kitchen, a high-end production kitchen bakery, and a full-service bistro. The new teaching and production kitchens support 21st Century real world culinary arts education within highly functional spaces. Kitchen Ventilation design and lighting design emphasized the increase in productivity and healthy cooking space for the Chefs’ and their students.
