Celebrating the Retirement of Lou Perez: A Foundational Legacy at PBS Engineers
It is with both joy and deep appreciation that PBS Engineers announces the retirement of Lou Perez, one of our most dedicated and foundational team members.
With more than thirty-five years of diverse experience, Lou built an extraordinary career as an Electrical Project Engineer and Project Manager, contributing to impactful projects across the educational, municipal, aviation, retail, healthcare, and commercial sectors. His depth of expertise across all facets of electrical design consistently set the standard for excellence within PBS Engineers’ Electrical Team.
Lou’s commitment to precision, integrity, and quality is reflected not only in his technical work, but in the way he showed up for clients and colleagues alike. From conducting feasibility studies to leading comprehensive utility master planning assessments, Lou’s clarity, thoroughness, and attention to detail helped shape the level of service PBS Engineers is known for today.
Beyond his technical excellence, Lou holds a truly special place in the PBS story. As one of our first hires, he played a pivotal role in helping establish the foundation of who we are as a firm. Through steady leadership, an even-keeled presence, and an unwavering dedication to doing things the right way, Lou helped define the culture that continues to guide PBS Engineers forward.
As an Associate Principal and valued member of the leadership team, Lou’s impact extended far beyond projects. His mentorship, calm confidence, and collaborative approach inspired generations of engineers and reinforced a culture rooted in teamwork, trust, and accountability. In every role he held, Lou exemplified what it truly means to provide WOW through service.
“Lou is part of the very fabric of PBS Engineers,” said Kunal Shah, President and CEO of PBS Engineers. “From the earliest days of the firm, his steady leadership, technical excellence, and integrity helped shape our standards and our culture. Lou didn’t just help build projects — he helped build PBS.”
Lou’s personal commitment statement, “Helping you see what is possible,” perfectly captures the spirit he brought to every project, every client interaction, and every mentoring moment throughout his career.
“Lou’s leadership was always grounded in humility and consistency,” shared Prital Patel, Executive Vice President at PBS Engineers. “He led by example, took the time to develop others, and raised the bar for quality in everything he touched. His legacy will continue to influence our teams for years to come.”
Reflecting on his time at PBS Engineers, Lou shared what the journey has meant to him:
“PBS gave me the opportunity to do work I was proud of while still having the balance to enjoy life outside the office. I was able to grow professionally, contribute to meaningful projects, and still be present for my family. What meant the most to me was knowing that the work we did truly served communities — schools, hospitals, airports, and public spaces that people rely on every day. Being part of shaping those environments alongside such a dedicated team is something I’ll always appreciate.”
As Lou embarks on this next chapter, we celebrate not only a remarkable career, but a lasting legacy built on excellence, mentorship, balance, and heart. His influence will continue to be felt through the people he guided, the projects he shaped, and the communities he helped design.
Please join us in congratulating Lou on his well-earned retirement and in thanking him for his extraordinary contributions to PBS Engineers.
Thank you, Lou, for helping us see what is truly possible.
