Project Spotlight: Headquarters Healthcare
At PBS Engineers, we take pride in our expertise in healthcare projects, particularly in MEP engineering, which plays a critical role in these complex environments. A notable example of our work is the Infusion Pharmacy project at the City of Hope in Santa Clarita, CA.
This project involved the design and construction of an infusion pharmacy that complied with USP 797 and 800 guidelines, requiring both hazardous and non-hazardous rooms. Our team faced the challenge of maintaining pharmacy operations while the construction was ongoing, which necessitated the creation of a temporary pharmacy space that adhered to all necessary standards, all while keeping construction costs low.
We approached this project with a strategic plan to minimize disruption. By carefully phasing the project, we ensured that existing operations were not impacted, designing MEP systems that allowed the pharmacy to remain functional throughout each phase. We also sequenced the construction based on the client’s priorities, ensuring that the most critical areas were addressed first. Additionally, we designed and configured HVAC controls to meet all safety standards, providing necessary alarms to protect the occupants.
The outcome was a successful project that met all budgetary and scheduling goals while minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations. We ensured the safety of the pharmacy’s occupants, met all guidelines, and achieved the necessary certification to keep the space operational, safe, and efficient.
