Sr./Mid-Level – MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Mechanical Engineering Portion: Evaluate Mechanical Engineering plans and specifications to ensure progress, completion of assignments, and all project documentation is accurate/reliable. Provide design assistance to Mechanical engineers as needed to complete fast-paced deadlines while maintaining a quality design. Provide support during construction phases and be a quick thinker to solve potential issues and obstacles in the field.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-7 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer working with consulting engineer or firm designing mechanical systems for facilities/buildings.
  • Strong Mechanical/HVAC design capability in healthcare, aviation, and higher education-related projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people through oral presentations and written communications.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle, and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, creative, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in maintaining strong client relationships are required.
  • Computer literacy including all core applications and the ability to quickly learn as needed.
  • Experienced at using a computer, preferably knowledgeable with MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook,
Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Associate Degree focused with HVAC Design/Installation
  • Professional Engineer License is Plus
  • LEED Certification or CEM or CxA is Plus
  • REVIT and AUTOCAD experience preferred
  • Experience with HVAC Load Calculation (Energy Pro, IESVE, Trane Trace 700, HAP)

DAY ONE SUPPORT AT PBS

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be paired with a local project manager and Mechanical Department Manager for day-to-day guidance. All project managers report to an MEP Department Leader and a Studio Leader. You will report to our Mechanical Department Leader for technical support and allocation of MEP engineering resources for your projects. In addition, you will report to the PBS engineers and other Studio Office (Houston and San Diego) Leaders for general umbrella support covering all other items or questions. We desire to serve each other, and we believe that your success is important for the success of all (PBS).
