Under Construction, PBS Engineers provided design build electrical design engineering services for the new Midfield Satellite Concourse, adjacent to the Tom Bradley International Terminal. PBS is the Electrical Engineer of Record from schematic design though construction administration for parts A, B and C of the Midfield Satellite Concourse project as well as for the Bradley West Annex (35,000 sf) and Tunnels.
The satellite concourse, estimated at $1.3B will be a remote facility initially served by an airport busing operation and a passenger access tunnel connection to the Bradley West Terminal but eventually connected by an automated people mover system (APM). The concourse was designed to accommodate 22 wide-body (Code E aircraft) swing gates serving domestic and international flights. The first phase of the concourse encloses approximately 750,000 SF of passenger and operational space with 11 to 13 wide-body gates, 50,000 SF of passenger tunnel access, 80,000 SF of utility tunnels, and a ramp level bus station for transfers to other domestic terminals. Phase 2 will complete the satellite concourse and include the remaining hold room and gates, APM system, and an APM maintenance facility.
