In-Line Baggage Explosion Detection System (EDS) - LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AVIATION
Terminals 1-3 and 6

The objective of the LAX In-Line Explosion Detection System (EDS) project was to convert the existing lobby-based checked baggage screening equipment at Terminals 1-3 and 6 to an automated system, integrated into the baggage conveyor and sorting system for each terminal. The MEP scope was to modify or relocate and provide new MEP and other building systems to support the new baggage handling systems while maintaining ongoing operations. Designs included detailed coordination and design support with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (DWP) for the incoming 34.5kV transmission line into the terminal to feed new 5,000 Amp switchgear for new In-Line loads.
